'Grand Theft Auto IV' races into videogame record books'
AFP - Wednesday, May 7 08:25 pm
SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - "Grand Theft Auto: IV" blew away videogame and Hollywood records as its creators reported Wednesday that it raked in an unprecedented 500 million dollars in its opening week.
ifTake-Two Interactive said approximately six million copies of "GTA IV: Liberty City Stories" have sold worldwide, with more than half of those games snatched up within 24 hours of the game hitting store shelves April 29.
"Grand Theft Auto IV's first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment," said Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick.
"We believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date."
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" took in 196 million dollars in its first week to seize the Hollywood crown for top-grossing film opening, according to Box Office Mojo.
Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter expects "GTA: IV" to be the second best-selling videogame ever behind its predecessor "GTA: San Andreas," which has sold 23 million copies.
"I'm sure 'GTA: IV' beats Hollywood movie opening weeks," Pachter told AFP.
"But it depends how one looks at it. I'm sure more people saw 'Ironman' than played 'Grand Theft Auto' in the past week but fewer dollars changed hands."
The 'Ironman' film based on the Marvel Comics character opened in theaters Friday.
The "GTA" franchise is the work of Take-Two's Rockstar Games studio and is an epicenter for outrage over violence in videogames because players triumph with acts such as carjacking, thuggery, and killing.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) stamped a "Mature" label on "GTA: IV" banning US retailers from selling the game to anyone less than 17 years old.
Take-Two hopes the superstar launch of "GTA: IV" will give it leverage in takeover talks with the world's largest video game maker, Electronic Arts, which is trying to buy the New York City-based firm.
Take-Two rejected a two-billion-dollar offer from EA and delayed talk of negotiation until after the release of "GTA: IV."

Dalton Bilsky's wise words.

"So pretty much don't do it just because. There is no making it right with the fans in regards to Daniel Bryan. Anything they do now is to save face. How many times can WWE do that before the fans are allowed to get mad? 3 times? 5? Why would you support a product that clearly shows it doesn't care what you think? Bryan isn't the only person fans are behind who doesn't get pushed. Ziggler, Cesaro, these names ring any bells? WWE is a company and can do what it wants but that doesn't mean fans need to support that.

In terms of it hurting the wrestlers, it hurts some but is Cena really going to lose out because you don't watch the network? Besides, that is a poor excuse - do you eat at places you don't like because if you don't, it will hurt the staff? It's your money, spend it where you get the value. Like you said, WWE isn't going away anytime soon but losing a bunch of subscriptions might make them rethink their direction."

"News of singer Sting’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the November 2015 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, Police frontman is alive and well.

UPDATE 12/11/2015 : This story seems to be false. (read more)

Sting death hoax spreads on Facebook

Rumors of the singer’s alleged demise gained traction on Tuesday after a ‘R.I.P. Sting’ Facebook page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the British singer’s passing:

“On Tuesday (November 10, 2015), our beloved singer Sting passed away. Sting was born on October 2, 1951 in Wallsend. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 64-year-old singer, musician and songwriter was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

Where as some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major British network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of a singer of Sting's stature would be major news across networks.

A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (81%) of respondents think those Sting death rumors are not funny anymore.

Sting Death Hoax Dismissed Since Singer Is ‘Alive And Well’

On Wednesday (November 11) the singer's reps officially confirmed that Sting is not dead. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.

Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved singer. Others say this shows his extreme popularity across the globe."

Oh, and FUCK MASSMEDIA straight to hell for posting this shit in the first place!

Matthew Maynard Adams the ScottBot says:

Yeah, this roster kinda blows, mostly through bad booking. Let's go down the list, I'm skipping guys that are NXT people, just main roster people.

Rybeck(?): Sucks. Just sucks.
Cesaro: I would say buried, but having 6 months off will be the best thing for him. Still, too foreign, too much getting over when he's not supposed to.
Russev: Buried. He's done.
Neville: Too small, just a guy to pull out good matches for people above him on the card. And really, that's the best use of him, not like he'd ever headline WM.
Dolph: Done. Beyond done. His heat is fucking gone.
Wyatts: Bray isn't just buried, he's like 50 feet below the people that are buried. Rowan sucks, Stroman is just some big lug. Harper, now him you can do something with.
Ambrose: I still maintain he sucks, but he's over despite everything WWE has tried to do to kill him. They can still do something there.
Roman: Pretty much dead, but can make a comeback if he kills Sheamus at TLC.
Barrett: In worse shape than Bray. Needs to ask for his release and go win the NJPW title.
Owens: They really blew it with him on the Cena feud, but have been keeping him strong since. He's reached his ceiling though. Should be WWE champ right now if they insist on keeping a heel champ, but a strong upper midcard spot is not a bad way to make a living.
